Mission Statement
We write about how we resist, thrive and celebrate our individuality while resisting patriarchal standards. This blog focuses on women and the opportunities and reflections gained when we express our strength and beauty.
As authors of The Fizz, we’ll share our take on contemporary feminist issues, looking through our intersectional, and transnational lenses. We’ll highlight stories about professional women athletes and equal pay. We’ll write about what it feels like to see badass female video game characters. And we’ll respond to how we recognize beauty in ourselves and others, in continuously changing beauty standards. The Fizz is about writing to empower our generation.
Each author may approach the topics with a problem statement, asking many cultural questions surrounding female identities, queer identities, and how they are connected to patriarchal capitalism, or blatantly misogynistic institutional standards. These questions relate to women and the queer community interpersonally, but also on a political and professional scale. Our narratives will address these issues, and we will write to empower our readers, through shared community, but also through actionable strategies about how to get involved in tackling these intersectional issues.
